Zadi in Stereo

As a cool follow-up to the OUR VOICES interview we did with Zadi Diaz back in February, here's an audio interview with her for the Slave Spotlight segment of the new podcast, Media Slaves.

Media Slaves is a roundtable podcast produced by Debi "Mobile" Jones, Marianne Richmond, Nicole Simon, and Zadi Diaz. The Slave Spotlight segments will feature interviews with each one of the Media Slaves producers, allowing you to get to know them individually through their own words.

If that wasn't enough, check out another interview with Zadi by Chris Ritke of the 49Media podcast produced last year.

A Stay-At-Home Conference (?)

For those who don't know, there's been a conference going on since Friday called the International Podcasting Expo 2006. I wish I had learned of this sooner, considering this is the last day, but you can still check it out, and maybe even get in on a session or two before it's over.

What's different about this event is that it's conducted entirely online. This virtual expo even has exhibitors booths and meeting rooms just like a physical conference (take the video tour of the expo site). General admission is $11.00 which includes a free audio recording and editing program, and a multi-media podcasting course. The best thing about it is you don't have to leave your chair!

So hurry up and get in before the closing ceremony. (Yes, there's a closing ceremony.)

How To Find PODCASTS

iTunes podcast logoIn this second installment in the HOW-TO series, we'll look at how to find podcasts. With the advent of Apple's iPod digital media player and iTunes software, podcasting has taken off like a rocket, ushering in a whole new wave of content and media makers over the last two years. This wave's also brought with it many places to find and host podcasts.

As with vodcasts and videoblogs, you can find podcasts through a podcaster's individual site, or you can search the ever-growing list of directories popping up online everyday. Either way, you can subscribe to these special broadcasts through RSS feeds delivered directly to whatever podcatcher software you choose and downloaded into your portable digital media player for listening anytime, anywhere.

Podcasting's Popularity Explained

For those who know little or nothing about podcasting, Mr. Armstrong gives a pretty good overview on what podcasting is, how to find podcasts, and how to start one of your own.

Check out the interview at NPR's Digital Culture (Real/WMV formats)
